FAQ

Q: How long did it take you to grow out your hair?

A: It took about 1.5 to 2  years to grow my hair from shoulder length to nearing waist length.

Q: What would you say contributed most to your growth?

A: Leaving it alone, LOL. Honestly though, just staying out of my hair as much as possible. This allows my ends to remain intact, and really it’s the ends that we tend to neglect when growing out our hair. Although hair grows from the scalp, the health of our ends is what determines whether we will witness a visual difference in our growth, or go months without seeing any change. If your ends are breaking and falling off at the same rate of your hair growth, you will not notice growth even though your hair is growing.

Q: So, does this mean that I have to constantly cut/trim my hair to maintain healthy, growing hair?

A: NO! (Well, it depends...) I don’t get my hair cut often at all. If I find my hair is on the dryer side, or i’ve been straightening it too much, I will get trims and cuts as needed. However, there’s really no need to get constant cuts and trims unless your hair calls for it. I would focus on keeping the scalp and ends healthy, which unfortunately means limiting heat, manipulation and hairstyles that are constantly pulling on the ends. I recently cut my hair due to splitting ends (me being careless with my hair) and I plan to leave it natural for the next year or so to get it back to where I want it, health-wise. My hair/scalp oil will definitely help to repair your ends.

Q: What oils do you use or recommend?

A: Well, of course I’m going to recommend my products.. lol. I have a Deep Conditioner, a hair and scalp oil (good for so many things) and a leave-in spray that all work to keep the hair, scalp and ends healthy so that you are able to observe real results while giving your hair the care and hydration it needs. Aside from my hair products, I occasionally use an oil called Wild Growth. It’s amazing. I keep It simple.

Q: Do you take any hair vitamins?

A: I take a few herbal supplements which I do feel contribute to my hair growth… again, mainly because it’s benefitting my body overall. I take Turmeric Supplements which are really good for growth, as well Folic Acid, a more recent supplement that I think is great as well. Check into these!!! (***Update: I also take a multivitamin on and off, as well as something called "black seed oil.") I’ve heard about Biotin and other things, but I’ve just never tried them because I’m scared, lol. (I think Biotin breaks me out. I’ve heard this from a lot of other ladies, also) Multivitamins help, too!

Q: What would you say helped you the most along your journey?

A: Patience, protective styles, praying, LOL. No but really… just have faith that your hair is growing. It’s going to grow regardless of what you do. It’s often times you who’s stopping you from noticing results. Heat, excessive manipulation and damaged ends are, in my opinion, what contribute most to a lack of results. (Aside from health issues which I believe are in a separate category) I think the healthier you are, and the more you treat your hair with care, the faster and better your hair results will be!
